Hello! My name is Armando L. Sanchez, but most people call me Mando. I was born and raised in the great state of Texas. Currently, I'm a photojournalist at the Chicago Tribune in Chicago, Ill.
I have been interviewed by the BBC World Service, The New York Times Lens Blog, and CNN. I have been published in Time Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, the Associated Press and numerous publications throughout the country. I'm a proud graduate of Western Kentucky University. During my time as a student, I interned as a staff photographer at The Chicago Tribune, The Tennessean, The State Journal-Register, and The Saginaw News.
In 2013 I was named a Getty Images Emerging Talent. In 2012, I was awarded third place in the Hearst Journalism Championship and given the honor of Best Single Photograph in the Hearst Journalism Competition. In 2011, I was named Kentucky Student Photographer of the year by the Kentucky News Photographers Association.
